Physiotherapy and hydrotherapy
Hydrotherapy for dogs
We have nurses at Christchurch Veterinary Referrals who are trained in hydrotherapy, particularly useful for our dog hydrotherapy treadmill.
Exercising in water is ideal for our longer-term inpatients, as their weight is supported while they regain their confidence and use of their legs.
The dog hydrotherapy unit is particularly beneficial for our spinal injury patients, who come back as outpatients to continue therapy on the treadmill and rebuild their strength.
Cat and dog physiotherapy
Physiotherapy can be an important part of your pet’s recovery from injury or surgery, relieving pain and accelerating healing. We work closely with veterinary physiotherapist Julia Hewitson, who visits the referral centre on certain days of the week to work with patients.
Julia qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist at King’s College in London and is a member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Animal Therapy.
Animal hydrotherapy and physiotherapy might be new to you, so if you have any questions or would like to find out more, please do call us on 01473 230999.
